I think you have the Roseville, MI. Gratiot location wrong. That Toys-R-Us (Corner of Gratiot and Masonic) has been there as long as I can remember, back to the mid 1970s, at least. Now, it could have been Children’s Palace in the 60s and early 70s. But I clearly remember going there with my Mom many times through out the mid 70s and onward into the 80s. We lived very close to it. Do you know what years this was supposed to be a Children’s Palace? There was a large toy store, which I think may have been The Children’s… Read more »
Hi Kevin,
Thank you for pointing out the error on the location of the Roseville, MI location.
Because several of the buildings were heavily modified or torn down, I wasn’t quite sure where the old Children’s Palace was located.
Many of the locations were taken over by Toys R Us, as well as Best Buy, and since I saw there was a TRU in the general area, I pointed to that.
This has now been corrected – thank you for pointing out the error.
Hi Peter, we’re back to that Roseville location again. Going from memory, that Sam’s Club in the picture used to be a Pace Membership Warehouse. I believe what is now the JC Penney next to it on the right was the Children’s Palace. I bought my NES from there in 1986!
Hi Sean,
You’re absolutely right – another visitor to the site confirmed that the Sam’s Club was never a Children’s Palace. He provided me the correct location as well as some pictures. So this has been corrected (albeit almost 3 years later… lol )
Just additional clarification here. The former Staples in Roseville (which is pictured here) was the Children’s Palace. In fact – a few days ago, the landlord pulled off the red siding and it’s exposed a perfectly intact label scar of “Childrens Palace” as well as the scar of where the Palace/Castle turrets are.
The toy store location (in the area that JC Penney) is now located in was Lionel’s Kiddie City. That shopping plaza also had a Farmer Jacks (which was mentioned by somebody above).
There was a Children’s Palace at the former Livonia Mall. The mall was leveled in 2009
I definitely remember the Livonia Mall location. Got some Transformers there in the late 80s. A WalMart sits there now.
I don’t remember there being a Children’s Palace on what would’ve then still been Cowan Road in Westland. I’m wondering when it closed, as I do remember Best Buy at that location before it moved to its bigger store just slightly to the east circa the turn of the century.
A lot of my TaleSpin action figures I had as a child, came from the Livonia Mall children’s Palace location
Peter Panda, Was there a Child World or Children’s Palace in Anderson, South Carolina?
The staples location in Roseville, MI used to be a child world or children’s palace.
but that staples location closed down.
my local staples became homegoods
my local staples first opened on fall 2008
