Many websites just give you their primary website address – in this case, childworld.rocks. But, many have “aliases” or “vanity” website addresses, which point to their main address.
.ROCKS is a newer Top-level-Domain (TLD), that was introduced in 2014. When I was deciding on a TLD for the site, .ROCKS was one of the newer TLDs that was gaining traction – unfortunately, its popularity never took off. Another newer TLD is XYZ. This new TLD has become more widely accepted than .ROCKS – so in addition to CHILDWORLD.ROCKS, you can also find us at CHILDWORLD.XYZ
Over the years, I’ve been adding new TLDs that redirect (forward) to ChildWorld.ROCKS – most recently, ChildWorld.store (registered 11 years to the day that ChildWorld.ROCKS was registered) also points to ChildWorld.ROCKS. .store didn’t exist as a TLD in 2015, when ChildWorld.Rocks was first registered.
There are a few other aliases that are associated with childworld.rocks such as
ChildWorld.site & ToysWereUs.com
I just couldn’t resist on the latter… 🙂
I was also able to purchase Child-World.com which now also points to childworld.rocks. Of course the holy grail would be the unhyphenated version of the .com – but alas, I cannot afford it.
I also own a few other aliases, which point to pages on this website that don’t show up on the sitemap or menu – perhaps you landed here via one?
I’ve been toying (pun intended) with the idea of setting either Child-World.com or one of the other aliases as the primary domain name – but I am concerned about search rankings & other potential impacts. Does it bother you when you go to a website such as Child-World.com & it brings you to a non-dot-com website?
Aliases can also redirect someone to a specific page on a website, rather that the home page – example – if I owned ChildWorldCommercials.com, I could have it point to the TV Commercials page
